In the
August 2007 issue:
One of the premier
carnivals to ever set up a midway was Royal American Shows. Down Memory Lane
provides a view a few of the rides owned by this train show that provided
thrills and excitement for thousands of fairgoers.
Helm & Sons carnival juiced
it up at the 2007 National Orange Show and Festival in San Bernardino,
California. One of the featured rides on the midway was the Chance Falling
Star, one of only three in existence.
Do You Remember the Apollo
10, a one-of-a-kind ride that brought passengers into the Space Age? Also
shown is a rare photo of one of the earliest Scrambler rides ever
fabricated.
Summertime is heavy-duty
festival and fair season in New York. Midway Rides of Utica played the
Harborfest in Rochester and showed off the show’s new Vortex (Skymaster) and
Wind Glider (Cliff Hanger).
The San Antonio (Texas)
Stock Show and Rodeo was Crabtree Amusements’ first opportunity to bring
their new Pole Position to the event. The carnival, along with several other
operators, brought in a large number of rides and attractions for the Wade
Shows’ midway at the fair.
Check out Manufacturer’s
Showcase for a deal on a brand new Americana Family Swing ride from Fabbri;
or the fun houses available from Custom Rides. Dalton Kid Ride Rebuilders
also manufactures parts for Hampton rides and a line of standard or custom
fencing; and Gold Medal Products has introduced a three-in-one unit for
making and merchandising popcorn, cheese corn, and caramel corn.
When Strates Shows took to
the rails for the 2007 season, they hauled everything on forty-five flat
cars and eight coaches. This list reviews what is being transported on each
car.
Carol Stream Amusements
brings their fun zone to a number of events in the Northeast. Among the
offerings on their midway are a Sea Ray, King’s Circus, Rockin’ Tug, and
Drop Zone.
Canadian carnival World’s
Finest Shows played the Gloucester Fair in Ottawa. Fairgoers enjoyed fun and
thrills on the show’s Typhoon, Zipper, Giant Wheel and Scooter, among
others.
Modeler’s Corner spotlights
trucks that are part of Tom Mayfield’s scale model show. Also, carnival
modeler Bill Pfeifer has discovered some items at the local Dollar Tree
store that can be turned into pieces suitable for a scale model midway.

look at the midway offerings from California-based Brass Ring Amusements.
