The theme for the 2005
Wisconsin State Fair was "Can't Wait," a feeling common to those who attend
a fair each year! Reed Expositions, filling in for Murphy Bros., provided
the fun zone for the mid-summer event.
A number of the
long-standing carnivals on the East Coast are experiencing growth spurts.
Newton Shows out of Long Island, New York, and Pennsylvania-based Oscar's
Amusements and Shaw & Sons are representative of the American carnival
scene, adding a new piece occasionally, refurbishing and retheming older
pieces, adding a new date, trying to maintain the old ones, and doing
everything they can to stay in business.

This year the Georgia World
Congress in Atlanta will be the site of the Annual Trade Show of the
International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. Slated for
November 16-19, the event offers a well-rounded program of exhibits,
seminars, and workshops with the latest in amusement technology.

the Hustler, manufactured by Grover C. Watkins, a fast action fun ride that
was popular with the thrill-seeking public.

Pack Your Bags offers a
listing of many of the state fair associations that will be convening for
their annual meetings; in addition, it also lists many of the upcoming
industry trade shows.
Murphy Bros. Expositions is
conquering the world, and their latest step was setting up to play a number
of dates in China.
The ongoing series, History
of Train Shows, covers the Rubin & Cherry Shows and their sister carnival
the Model Shows, as they crisscrossed the country during the1930s.
As the traditional fair
