- The 2001 Del Mar (California) Fair fielded an independent midway with three roller coasters. Next year, the fair with a long history and a contest for just about everything, will also sport a new name. Along with an overview of this year's fair are a lot layout and a listing of ride operators and game concessionaires.
- Smokey Mountain Amusements brought in their Green Unit to Faith, North Carolina to help celebrate the 4th of July. The show also inked a contract extending its run there for another five years.
- Starting with a popcorn trailer and expanding to over 50 rides and a route that covers 5000 + miles, Cumberland Valley Shows, under the steady hand of J.D. Floyd and grandsons Jeremy and Jason, is optimistic about the 2001 season.
- Myers International ended their 2000 season at the North Florida Fair in Callahan. The show debuted a new Dartron Cliff Hanger during the season and to help keep the operation efficient, invested in a new computer system and software.
- Handling two jobs at once keeps Joe Jones, electrician and ride superintendent for Smokey Mountain Amusements' Green Unit, busy. He likes the show and has great respect for owner Billy Clark.
- The seventh annual Amusement Industry Expo in Cleveland, Ohio, will host its inaugural luncheon, featuring industry leader Ron Burback of Funtastic Shows. The October event will highlight goods and services available to the outdoor amusement industry.
- Do you remember the Eyerly Fly-O-Plane? The amusement ride featured individual controls and jet-style airplanes with afterburner tailpipes on a streamlined body, and Eyerly designed safety features.
- The History of Train Shows covers Cetlin and Wilson in 1945, a show with 16 rides, 10 shows and 60 concessions, traveling with 25 trucks on rail with 15 rented baggage cars. Another show of the time, owned by John H. Marks, faced the same problem as Cetlin and Wilson, whether or not to convert to a traditional rail show, remain a gilly show, or travel by truck.

- Also included in the September issue are Midway Talk, Manufacturer's Showcase, Direct from the Lots, classified ads, and Who am I.
- Coming in the October issue of CAROUSEL is a special feature on the Amusement Industry Expo in Cleveland, including a schedule of events, a listing of exhibitors, and information on seminars, workshops and social functions.
- And, in December, a special section on carnival modeling, featuring the efforts of CAROUSEL contributors along with ideas and suggestions on how to create some favored carnival rides, attractions, games and concessions.
