Congratulations to the Deggellers

On Wednesday May 12, 2010 Jamie and Andy Deggeller became the proud parents of a baby boy.  Gabriel Deggeller weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz.  Even prouder grandparents are games operator Candy Anderson and carnival owners Cathy and Don Deggeller.

Erin Sellner of Sellner Mfg. is hosting the Bruce Sellner Memorial Golf Tournament on July 22.  The event will be held at the Legacy in Fairbault, Minnesota.  This is the 14th annual year for the event in honor of Bruce who passed away at the age of 44 while waiting for a heart and lung transplant.  The Golf Tournament is a fundraiser for Organ Donation Awareness.  There are several sponsorship levels from $25 up and many fun non-traditional contests.  This year’s tournament will have a Mardi Gras theme.  For more information and to sign up, please contact Erin Sellner at 507-291-0538 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Dixieland Carnival Co. of Phenix City, AL has purchased a new ARM Vertigo.  The ride will be delivered to Dixieland next week.  The carnival company has also kept busy with work on its current rides.  A new LED lighting package was recently added to Dixieland's Sky Wheel.

Dates for the 2011 Georgia State Fair have been set.  The Fair will return to spring again, running April 28 through May 8.  The Georgia State Fair had moved their event from fall to spring in 2010 after taking 2009 off.

Gillette Shows has re-signed the Afton Fair in Afton, New York for 2010.  Gillette Shows returns to the late July fair after a three-year hiatus.

Other updates from upstate New York:

Main Events Amusements of Syracuse, NY has acquired the Madison County Fair for 2010.  Increased attendance at the fair in recent years has allowed them to book a larger midway for 2010.

Mike Robb's Fun for Everyone Shows has been signed by the Orleans County 4-H Fair in Albion, NY.  Robb's father Dave played the spot in the 70's and 80's with his Fun City Shows.

Bates Brothers Amusements will play the 2010 Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley, NY.  Shell's Unit of the show will play several spots in Pennsylvania and jump across the border for their first ever spot in NY in August.

The Niagra County 4-H Fair in Lockport, NY has contracted Carol Stream Amusements.  Following the Lockport event Carol Stream will join Strates Shows at nearby Erie County and then the New York State Fair.

The Cayuga County Fair will join up with Playland Amusements of Auburn, NY once again in 2010.  Playland last played the event in 2008.

Hitch-Hiker Celebrating 40 Years

     Hitch-Hiker Mfg. is celebrating 40 years of building custom food trailers for the amusement industry.  Jeff and Holly Swartz have newly remodeled offices and a revamped facility that will be showcased early this summer at an open house for customers, venders and industry affiliates. 

     They told Carnival there have been some major changes internally at Hitch-Hiker, the biggest being the recruiting and hiring of their new plant supervisor Jeff Shaffer from Niles Ohio.  He has 25 years of manufacturing and engineering experience and specializes in quality control.
